Westminster Health Trainer Programme

In November 2008, Rain Trust was appointed to deliver the Westminster Health Trainer Programme.
The concept of the programme is to engage local Westminster residents in health promotion activities, whilst trying to alter their lifestyles in a positive way and become healthier.

It has two key objectives:

To encourage local people aged 18+ living in Westminster to undergo free training to become health trainers. The main attribute these individuals require is the ability to communicate clearly and constructively with their peers. The true success of this scheme is transparent when we appreciate that 13 newly trained Health Trainers will graduate in the early part of 2010.
To offer one-to-one support which is free and confidential by a specially trained Health Trainer based at Rain Trust. Their role is to encourage people living in Westminster to start to improve their own health through their own actions.
Services provided:
Advice – to find out more about health issues and concerns
Motivation – encourage individuals to make positive changes in their life
Support – accompany individuals to new places, groups and workshops
Expertise – offer connections to other supporting, networked organisations that may be able to help
The Health Trainer at Rain Trust can offer advice and support on a wide range of health issues including:
HIV transmission and treatment
Support and help for those suffering long-term conditions
Giving up smoking
Positive Mental Health
